School Shutting Doors After 50 Years for Project Renovation
Dr. Samuel Mudd Elementary school, located in Waldorf, Maryland, opened its’ doors to students in the fall of 1967. After more than 50 years of service, the school will be shutting its doors for business as it undergoes a complete renovation and a new school addition. Once the renovations are complete, the school will feature new classrooms, a new gym, and a new learning resource center.
The size of the building will increase from 45,700 square feet to almost 75,300 square feet. The student body will also increase in size from 400 students to 600 plus students. The renovations are a part of the counties plans to alleviate over crowded classrooms in the public school system.
