A New Tennis Club Sports a Fresh Look
Columbia MD has a lot of tennis playing residents. Fortunately, new tennis clubhouse recently opened to support the high demand for more courts.
Opened in Spring 2018, Long Reach Tennis Club is located off Old Dobbin Lane, across the street from Long Reach High School’s ball fields. It replaced the Owen Brown Tennis Bubble, which previously was the hot spot for indoor tennis players in the Columbia area. The 49,000 square-foot building houses 6 tennis courts. The center portion of the building houses a reception area, pro shop, viewing lounge, refreshment bar, offices, locker rooms, elevator, storage, and utility rooms. The clubhouse area includes a mezzanine level for viewing tennis, as well as a galley, restrooms, and meeting areas.
Designed for environmental sustainability, the facility incorporates solar panels, LED Court lights, electric car charging stations, above code insulation, high efficiency HVAC systems, and on-site bio-retention facilities. Adding to the facility’s sustainable features, exterior cladding system installed onto its façade extra layer of insulation and weatherization.
Scope of Work
This was among the first of Cameron Building Envelope Specialists’
cladding projects. Cameron BES installed cladding panels on the exterior walls of the building. Blue panels accentuate the main entrance. Additionally, narrower strips of gray and lighter gray accentuate the backdrop for the club’s logo.
Cladding panels are not only stylish, but also durable, functional, and reliable. They provide a layer of protection against the elements while adding to a building’s overall aesthetics. Cladded façades benefit from virtually no cost of maintenance and repairs. Also, the relative ease of installation makes cladding less costly than other building envelope alternatives
