High Point Elementary School Is Getting A Complete Makeover

The first phase of construction has already started on a new two story addition at High Point Elementary School.  After hauling in tons of dirt, workers are now grading the grounds. Improvements to the school will take place over the next two years, and will happen in three separate phases. The first phase of construction includes renovations to the schools art room and gymnasium area. A new kitchen, cafeteria, and music room areas will be a part of the new addition. Phase one construction will also include the construction of a new courtyard area as well. The first phase  is expected to be completed by the start of the 2018 school year. Every single classroom will have four walls. This will eliminate the open-concept plan of the current building.  Architects chose to modernize the school, instead of replacing it.  That’s because an independent study shows that the schools grounds are not big enough to build a new school on the property without first demolishing it. The new two story addition is expected to be completed by the start of the 2018-219 school year.
