The Holladay Corporation, a local real estate company owns the Georgetown. The Holladay Corporation is known for building several luxury apartment buildings and active adult communities throughout the Washington, D.C. metro area.

Scope of the Job

Our team of building envelope specialist installed a complete air barrier and mineral wool insulation. Air barriers are arranged and shaped to control the airflow between a conditioned and unconditioned space. The air barrier is a primary air enclosure that divides conditioned indoor air and unconditioned outdoor air. During the construction of an apartment building, the air barrier also splits the conditioned air in between apartment units.

Mineral wool insulation offers thermal insulation. Thermal insulation is an important technology that reduces energy consumption in buildings by preventing heat gain or loss through the building envelope.  Mineral wool insulation is also good for controlling noise.   Compared to other types of insulation, the stone fiber content provides increased density that effectively reduces airflow and sound transmission.  Consequently, mineral wool also effortlessly drains water from cavity walls and is designed for steel stud sizes. Mineral wool is made from natural stone and recycled content.
